Severn Trent is Tasty

2649199617_4f29ee040a_m.jpg We reported not long ago that bottled water was out, as concern grows over all that unnecessary plastic circulating in the environment, not to mention all the air miles that it takes to fly the water around.

A New incentive out from the fun loving environmental group, The Green Thing encourages people to drink more tap water, aptly named ‘The Drink Tap’. The campaign set up a taste test to find Britain’s best tap water. The water tasters came in the shape of some of London’s top chefs including the Michelin Starred, Tom Aikens of Tom’s Kitchen.

The winning H20 was Severn Trent’s water, that covers Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Gloucestershire and some parts of Wales. It was described by Aikens as being ‘very fresh with a clean taste’. The top chefs also tasted some bottled water in the tasting and described one as ‘not natural’ and similar to ‘middle of the rode pond water’ - Ouch!

This is great news for all you Severn Trent’s water drinkers, but for the rest of us who are wondering how our local water faired then you’ll be pleased to know Anglian Water came second and surprisingly Thames Water came third! Who ever said that water from London, that has been passed through three different people before you drink it doesn’t taste good? If you want to find out more about where your local water came then see the rest of the article here.

If want to know more about drinking your tap water then head over to The Green Thing and ‘don’t be a mineral criminal, do the Green Thing and Ask For Tap’.
