For the theatre (Derngate, just down the road) this is in a great location, its had a refurb and is now a clean and modern day pub. Good service and prices for a town pub.

This is at the top of the road where the Derngate is so its good for catching a drink here before heading onto the theatre, saying that, its a decent young crowd that come in here not the frumpies that usually go to the theatre. Its been done up and is a modern and decent pub now.

This place used to be a right dump, but i doubt you would believe that now, its a nice classy place, well classier than it ever was, and it makes a nice venue for pre theatre drinks, as its just at the top of the road.

I used to work in this pub years ago and its was always really popular then changed owners and went really down hill - give it another try now as it has again changed hands and had a complete refurb and its really fantastic now - 1 side has high bar chairs and tables, and the other leather sofas, plus a restaurant area too - i havent eaten a meal here but had tried the spanish tapas which are really good quality and value! great choice of wines too - really good place for a night with your fella or with the girls!

This is a very old and well known pub in Northampton. It has been very tastefully modernised and is open for drinks till about 1pm or uintil the last person leaves!. Not eaten here but told it is very good. Quick service behind the bar which is what you need on a packed Saturday night!

This pub is a really nice place to go for a drink and it has a nice outdoor area. Also it’s very near to the theatre which means it’s perfect for if you fancy a quick drink before or after a show.

It always looks really clean and bright in there adding to its appeal.

Last time I went in there I noticed that if you ever get bored they have board games available behind the bar so if you fancy challenging some friends to a game of Jenga you can nice touch!

This place is soo much posher now than it used to be, i think it used to have more atmosphere when my feed used to stick to the carpet. But it attracts a much classier clientele now and is a decent place to spend a friday night.

If you want to go to town but for a quiet one

If you want to go to town, but do not want to get caught up in the crowds, but you want a great night then the mailcoach is the place to go. It is very relaxed, always busy and their Olives are to die for. On a number of occasions I have met a group of friends in town and we have stayed in the mailcoach for the entire night. Even though you are in the town centre you certainly feel as though you are away from everything.

This place is fantasic for both a quiet drink after work and pre drinks for a night out. It gets very busy on weekend evenings but during the week is nice for a drink after work. A very chilled atmosphere and classy.

Another REALLY nice, classy place for a drink in the evening and food. It's ideal if you're visiting the Royal and Derngate because it's right next door... only thing is they're too posh to do crisps!
