Great pub

Above expectations
From the owners of The Rye Hotel beside Peckham Rye, The Mansion is a welcome addition on the Gipsy Hill/Dulwich border. A gothic exterior gives way to a byzantine sumptuously kitsch interior. The food menu is good with great burger fare and thai options (although not as nice as the Rye Hotel). The staff are great expecially the French bar man who is always friendly and engaging. Large beer garden at the back is sparse. Wine menu is sufficiantly wide, the Meursault, Viognier and Gewurtztraminer being highlights.
Easily the best pub for miles around.
Cracking Sunday lunch

Above expectations
From the same people behind The Rye in Peckham, The Mansion has risen from the ashes of an behemoth of an old run-down pub at the bottom of Gipsy Hill. Now repainted black, it does look rather foreboding from the outside, and the Gothic theme is taken forward slightly inside, but that's a minor quibble. The food menu is consistently good, although possibly slightly overpriced, but the Sunday lunches are definitely worth making the journey for. The staff are immensely friendly (seemingly rare for a pub) and there's an exceptionally large sun-trap of a beer garden out the back - perfect, if you've got kids. The clientele are your typical middle-class 30-somethings, though not too braying. All in all, a damn fine pub!
