Argh this place is great, get your glitzy high heels on and enjoy the cocktails and ambience in here. You dont have to pay to get in when their are bands etc on which is great, and they do cocktails. Cool london bar.

I love it here, its cool and funky, whilst its not very big and there are not that many tables to sit down at. It does serve some great cocktails how ever and they arent a ridiculous price, even the champagne ones.

Located just round the corner from the Aldwych this is really swanky, quite pricey but when you get in you'll see why.
A huge selection of wines and beers from all over the world. I think this is one fo my favourite bars in town.

A disused public toilet has been gutted and transformed into a glitzy underground basement bar.
We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy so it's a good place to start your night if you're in that area and don't want tourists.
Drinks are very expensive though and the music was a tiny bit ropey. They had a playlist system which got taken over by a DJ at about 9.30 but this seemed quite pointless as the DJ was just playing the same music!

A beautiful phrase for a beautiful place...

J R R Tolkien once described the phrase "cellar door" as being possessed of an intrinsically beautiful sound, and Cellar Door is a beautiful little bar.
As noted, the bar is a converted public toilet and is not large, comprising only about 8 tables. However, the place is lively and I have been on nights when, packed though it was, people still had room to dance. And dance they did...
The cocktails start at around six pounds and are, frankly, delicious. Having been to a few very bad cocktail bars, your humble reviewer can tell you that this trait is not quite as obvious as it sounds.
You can purchase snuff, which I happen to love. It is brought to you on a china tray, with a card to cut it with and a straw to snort it up. This thoughtful and slightly daring presentation is typical of the bar's whole ethos.
Previous reviewers have covered the text jukebox and the frosting loo doors and the incredibly friendly staff but what is difficult to convey is just how damn cool the place is.
I have been several times now, and every time I just find myself exclaiming "it's just so cool!" at bemused acquaintances.
Because it is: it is just so damn cool.

Cool underground bar - very small but what it lacks in size it makes up for in imagination with free text jukebox, translucent loos doors that mist over when you lock them, amazing cabaret and burlesque acts every night from 9pm and table service from fallen angels (complete with wings). But above everything else the bar staff are friendly with none of the snotty attitude you get in lots of Central London bars. The cocktails are great and, although they're not the cheapest in the West End they're very reasonable - especially as there is no entrance fee even for the live acts
