Meh....

So, it does look good, the menu looks incredible and it looks to be really good value too. But I can't help but say anything other than my experience here was decidedly average...
Perhaps it was my food choice - fish and chips - that prevented me from really experiencing what others have spoken about, but I somewhat doubt it. The service was a little slow, with the staff more likely to walk past and say 'hi' reluctantly rather than serve.
That said, the flatbread at the start of the meal was fantastic, and as a group we all had a very nice time, but as restaurants go in central London, I was far from amazed.

Great place for a pre-theatre meal

It's sometimes difficult in London to find somewhere that's both good quality and good value, but this place scores on both counts. They are also geared to getting customers served quickly, but without appearing to rush things, which is especially useful if you are cutting things as fine on a theatre visit as I was.

can’t make anything wrong with this place!

As expected
Browns is probably one of the more classier and a bit pricier places around Leicester Square. But the inside decor is great and very tasteful. The place is perfect for work lunches, pre-theatre dinners or cocktails after work. I quite like coming here, it makes a nice change to the usual trip to pub after work.

For the average prices... I'm always impressed by the place. The service varies.. but the decor makes you feel highly important. Lovely grand piano, hanging chandeliers.. and wide marble floors with ample seating. The food is good and overall it makes an impressive setting for a business lunch

Pre-theatre menu fab value!

Browns is a lovely restaurant and if you want something that’s not too expensive but feels a bit posher than your average local restaurant, Browns is the place to go. If you are dining after 7pm, expect to wait a few minutes in the bar before a table becomes available. With some very expensive and some very reasonably prices dishes on the menu, together with the daily meat, fish, pasta and desert specials, there will be something to fit everyone’s dietary requirements. If you can get there between 4pm-6.30pm do ask for the pre-theatre menu to take advantage of getting 2 courses for £12.95 – fantastic value for money when you consider that most main courses cost this price or more. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who would have young children with them as there isn’t much plain, child-friendly food on the menu and I don’t recall ever seeing children there when I’ve eaten there. Service is very good but can be a little slow when they are very busy. I recommend the very posh Black Pearl Scallops starter and if nothing on the special boards takes your fancy the Steak, Mushroom and Guinness Pie is fantastic!
