Beyond expectations
I've been to this restaurant 4 weeks ago and I haven't been disappointed. The staff is friedly an very helpful, infact, the meal that was recommended by on of them was very good. The wine card is also very impressive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food!

Excellent French Restaurant

Covent Garden is generally hit and miss with a multitude of food outlets catering for tourists and I was pleasantly surprised by Clos Maggiore.
Exhaustive wine list, superb food and great ambience mean that I'll certainly be going back. £180 for 3 people including a £50 bottle of wine is not unreasonable given the quality of food and service.
Deeply romantic restaurant

I have eaten here a couple of times and found the food to be exquisite. They do a 3 course offer which is great value for money. The decor is very romantic, with it being quite dark and bushy! The waiters were very professional and the homemade bread lovely.

As expected
Had a great evening here. Very cosy and atmospheric, service was very attentive too.
Had 3 course meal for £20 which was fantastic. However my starters and main were a bit cold, otherwise the whole experience would be perfect.
Definately would go again and you definately need to reserve a table as it is always fully booked!

Closest to heaven in a major way

Armed only with a brief request for something French in Covent Garden, my new-found friend came up with a 10/10 choice for our lunch venue.
I felt at ease in an instant, the décor reminding me of well-loved country inns frequented during numerous travels through Provence, namely warm mix of decoratively coloured walls against some lovely dark wood panelling added nicely to a welcoming log fire.
The quality of the food was made moreish by the excellent preparation it surely entailed – you could sense that the head chef (Marcellin Marc, formerly of 2-Michelin-Star 'Clos de la Violette' in Aix-en-Provence) and his team really know their onions and were generous enough to impart their knowledge with the diners they serve.
We decided to go for the three-course set menu which we agreed, at £19.50 a head, was a bargain to be reckoned with. After the same starter each of tomato and sardine terrine dotted with a shallot sauce on the side and neat garnish of young green-leafed salad, I then plumped for some delicious pan-fried sea bream with braised fennel and chunky boulangère potatoes whilst he selected the roasted quail, spätzle (a German version of tagliatelle) with finely shredded summer cabbage.
We were discreetly left alone by crisply-dressed staff and, as such, were able to enjoy a couple of Côtes du Rhône wine-filled hours of wonderful getting-to-know-you French conversation. In the end, our rapidly star-crossed eyes saw no other choice on the dessert menu than a pretty dish each of coconut semi-freddo ice-cream slathered in pineapple sauce and a passion fruit jelly.
A strong cup of double express each rounded off the proceedings, as we concurred that another Clos Maggiore meal would no doubt soon be on our horizon.
