Good food on the go

I have been here a few times for lunch so I can't really comment on the place in the evening but it is pretty good for Tex Mex food. The selevction is pretty standard and the service quick so its great for lunch. there is also a great lunch menu for a fiver. Or for a tenner you can add 2 beers (not bad for a friday). It does tend to get busy and we haven't be able to get a table before so if you really want to go here, turn up early or book.

Mexi-cool

15 May 08, 13:40 4* Above expectations

This place is packed on weeknights later in the week so be prepared to wait for a table (and to share elbow space with several others as you do so).

The wait is worth it if only for the fantasic frozen margeritas and nachos/salsa served at the bar. The staff are efficient and let's just say it... cool. They're on the ball and don't look twice at you if you start talking nonsense from all that tequila.

The food is standard tex-mex fare - if you want "Mexican" mexican food head down the road to Wahaca. You can't fault it for being what it is though, and growing up in North America this hits that south-of-the-border craving spot on.

Big portions for the main dishes but steer clear of the onion rings - not worth it - and the starters in general (over priced for what you get).

On a sunny afternoon head for a seat by the open widows and a cool Corona - nice after a spot of shopping.

A cliche, but a cut above most central restaraunts

04 May 08, 16:28 3* As expected

It's cliched Mexican food with a decor to match.

During lunch service the atmosphere is one of free-wheeling chaos and the service isn't always great, but the food can't be faulted.

Non-meat options are limited, especially amongst the lunchtime specials - but what did I expect? It's a cliched mexican restaraunt...

Nearby Wahaca trumps Cafe Pacifico in the flavour and service stakes, but this is still a reliable lunchtime option.

Same chain as La Perla, Cafe Pacifico is a large mexican in Covent Garden.

They do really nice cocktails and the strawberry marghetitas are really good. Food wise I always go for the chicken fajitas which are enough to fill me up but not that cheap at about £14.

Not amazing but it's nice enough.

Huge portions, great atmosphere.

I've been to Pacifico more times than I can count. There still seems to be a shortage of decent Mexican places in the centre of town and CP shines like a beacon.

The ambience and 'buzz' of the place is very good - it's almost always busy. The downside of this is that the service can sometimes be found wanting - far from ideal when they include a 12.5% gratuity on your bill.

But the food is good, competently rendered Mexican with a wide range of aperitifs and entrees. The portions are very large - even someone with a big appetite would struggle to get through, say, beef fajitas served with a side of rice and refried beans - especially when washed down with a bucket of iced Sol!

If you fancy Mexican...

then go here. But only if you are in the area.

I'm not overwhelmed by this place, but it certainly fills a fajita sized hole in my stomach on a Friday lunchtime, without putting a hole in pocket.

I find it bizarre how when you ask for a large coke they bring you 2 small glass bottles of coke. What is that about?

Cheap & Cheerful Mexican

19 Mar 08, 11:49 4* Above expectations

Really love this place, it's well within my small budget and always good fun.

The food is quite simple, nothing terribly amazing that I've found so far but it's always good which is the main thing, and they tend to keep it quite simple so no major risk of it being awful.

I like the simple restaurants and this one fits the bill, the staff are always friendly and smiling, they were keen to help my Italian friends choose when they went there, and always deserving of a tip (as it's not included in the bill - another thing I like).

The shots of tequila are proper shots of tequila as well, not like you get in pubs but a proper glass of the stuff. I've had friends who have complimented the cocktails as well.

Would recommend it to anyone.
