Nice inside

We call this the lady chamber as its decor is just fabulous and over the top for just a pub. The atmosphere is convivial and the staff serve quickly at a well stocked bar.

I love it in here, mainly because im so damned vein and i love a pub that means i havent got to head to the loo to check my hair, this place is covered in mirrors, which just adds to the traditional decor inside.

Bold Pub

19 May 08, 20:01 3* As expected

This is a quant pub, almost oldy worldy with some funny colour choices inside. The drinks here are definitely well priced and cheaper than surrounding places. When this place is crammed you know something is on at the theatre as thats when its at its most crammed.

Great range of ale, quality British food, good atmosphere

01 May 08, 14:52 4* Above expectations

There are a good number of pubs in this area but this one stands out for several reasons.

- It has a good selection of well-kept ales that include some unusual guests not normally found in London.

- It has a fantastically preserved Victorian etched glass and dark wood-panelled interior.

- It serves excellent classic British food - e.g. various types of sausage and mash, fish and chips and great pies - in generous portions

- The service is friendly and polite

This pub gets busy at lunchtimes with a mix of clientele including local office workers, tourists and a few random old guys propping up the bar.

Pop in for a pint and you won't regret it.

Give it a go!

16 Apr 08, 14:04 4* Above expectations

A great atmospheric pub that serves proper good pub food and bevvies. The portions the delightfully happy staff serve you aren't shy either. When getting a pie, be prepared to have to eat your heart out as there will be a lot to take in. The vibe in the place is brilliant as there is such a great mix of students and then the more mature people. The only bad thing is that the upstair area never seems to be in use wich makes it very hard to get a table at lunch time and so it gets crowded very often and very quickly.

A strictly "No Sport" Pub!!!!

15 Nov 07, 10:31 5* Beyond expectations

Looking for a nice traditional Victorian English pub without big plasma screen showing football, rugby, cricket, etc…? Go to The Salisbury. It’s clearly written on their windows, they are a non sport pub. What I love about this place is the setting and lavish decoration – etched windows, wooden furniture and stairs, stylish chandeliers and mirrors and with its massive central mahogany bar, you’ll rarely queue for drinks. A shame they closed the first floor though, but there is still an area you can book for parties up to 50 people.

Gaudy Pub

05 Aug 07, 09:37 2* Below expectations

The Salisbury at 90 St Martins Lane served me a pint of Lieffe beer. This is a 6.6% beer. It was priced at £3.80 a pint. This is not so very expensive as Lieffe is £4.60 a pint else were. I was served by a helpful staff member all staff were Aussies.

The customers seemed stuck up so I did not hang around. The décor was gaudy lots of red paint. But it was the aroma of the toilet that sealed it for me to leave. I had sat out side a bit to get away from the smell and that gaudy inside. Nice beer and nice staff. Other wise customers stuck up and gaudy decoration and smell give this pub a bad atmosphere.

Salisbury Pub

13 May 07, 10:52 4* Above expectations

This is a lovely Victorian pub. Recently renovated it has all the restored cut glass and lamps with female statues as the stands. There is a great selection of beers and cask ales and the staff are always friendly and quick. This is a very busy pre theatre bar but usually empty's on performance time. The journey down to the toilets is decorated with old theatre posters in true West End style.
