Above expectations
As long as it remains dry, you bring layers and a cushion, watching a movie at Somerset House on a summer evening is pretty amazing. You can bring your own picnic or enjoy a glass of wine whilst chilling out in this lovely setting.
Book as early as possible for the film screenings - it's only on for a couple weeks at the end of July / start of August - and tickets sell out fast.

Another part of Londons great past, a huge building at the end of the strand, full of historic events, all detailed on plaques around the amazing forecourt.

Above expectations
Somerset House is a very pretty historic building right by the London Eye. I really love visiting Somerset House, it always amazes me how quiet it is despite being in the middle of London. The time visiting really is a must is just before Christmas, the outdoor ice rink in is really quite magical and can really set the mood for Christmas and can be quite romantic.

This is a beautiful location for concerts in the summer and a good chance to see well-known artists in an intimate venue.
They also have summer outdoor screenings of classic films, but my favourite has to be the ice rink in the winter, the best outdoor rink in London.

Beyond expectations
Somerset House was designed by William Chambers in the 1775 for the royal companies. During the winter its court become a skating rink while during the summer it become a concerts stage. Somerset House has the Courtauld Institute of Art, the Gilbert Collection od Decorative Arts and the Hermitage Rooms.

Historic building

Somerset house is a beautiful old building that shows art. My favourite thing about Somerset House is the winter ice rink. You skate outside on a rink in the courtyard. It's very pricey but it's a very magical experience, for all the family.
