Once you've walked round Kenwood/Hampstead Heath

Once you've worked up a thirst tramping round Kenwood Estate or Hampstead Heath this a great pub to stop and refresh. Not just Dick Turpin, it's also believed Charles Dickens would pop in for a pint too! It has a great garden, which is lit up with night lights and feels all romantic and otherworldy after dark.

Always loved this place.
It has bags of character, the fireplaces make it a great winter haunt and the vast beer garden makes it the place to be on a sunny Sunday afternoon
Great selection of wines and beers and would love to believe that Dick Turpin did in fact once drink here.
The dog wash is an added bonus as you always get good dog activity. great for those of us who don't have the space to own our own.

Shakespeare's Favourite Haunt...

Beyond expectations
Not really. But it could be, with it's low oak beams, rustic fireplaces and cosy snugs- this place is a wondeful throwback to the sixteenth century. Just the place to ensconce yourself in on a bitter winters night. It offers a wide range of local and speciality ales, a fine wine list and some truly delicious food- definately gastropub territory. There is also a spacious outdoor terrace area for smokers, and possibly an outdoor BBQ in summer. And for all those posh Highgate doggy owners, there is a doggy wash next door, and dog bowls for water are provided. N.B: if you leave your food alone outside too long, one of the semi-feral cats will have it.
