It's a boat...and a bar!!!!!

Above expectations
I went here last Friday with my friends and had a blast. I love boats so I was in my element, but genuinely, it's such a novel dining and drinking experience that I can't recommend it enough. The views of the London Eye and Big Ben on the top deck make up for the slightly dingy lower deck, even when it's blowing a stiff so'wester up there. And the motion of the Thames is reassuringly therapeutic and slightly unsettling at the same time - spicing up your regular three pints and a packet of crisps. Basically, come summer, I'll be lounging against the rail with a G&T, pretending I'm setting off on an epic journey to the colonies. Brilliant.
Mary, quite scary

As expected
The first rule of the Queen Mary is that you never, ever should arrive sober. The nautical equivalent of a white stretched limo, the QM is not a place to go in search of a classy night out. Part floating pub, part floating after-hours nightclub, the venue makes a great late night drinking venue if the Walkabout at Temple is a little too crowded for your tastes. The booze is acceptably priced, but not cheap, and the music in the nightclub is cheese all the way. But of course the real selling point for the Queen Mary is the fact that it floats. On actual water. There's something incredibly and inherently exciting about necking cheap rum and dancing like a loon knowing that the mighty Thames is only feet from your feet. And of course the movement of the boat is the perfect excuse for any drunken lack of balance. Drunk? Me? No, I'm just finding my sea legs.
