cool bar, slow service
29 Apr 08, 10:43
As expected
I had high expectations when I first went to the Big Chill House as my friends were shouting about it how cool it was. Have to agree that it is a pretty cool bar with split level, a roof terrace and good music. But be prepared to wait at the bar. It seemed to me that the bar staff didn’t know anything about serving drinks. I got so annoyed by the end of the evening that I stopped buying drinks. I would rate this place higher but the service is a bit of a downer.

Bar with a roof terrace!

Above expectations
The main draw for me was the prospect of the roof terrace, but once there I found the downstairs bar area to another great space, the decor is very comfortable and relaxed, with lots of open walking space, but with equally as much seating. The prices are fair to good for that part of town, a round of three drinks being just under a tenner, and the people add to the chilled surroundings, all in all, the names sums it up very well, definitely worth a visit.

Really Nice Place in Kings Cross

Beyond expectations
I went here last summer (06) after seeing them place an ad in the Guardian Newspaper. Curiosity got the better of me so I went down to check it out. The Big Chill has another bar near Liverpool Street but its small compared to this place. The Big Chill House is basically a really big house with 3 floors and a balcony. It's great to go on the balcony in the summer and the crowd generally is young and lively. On the weekend they have dj's playing and on a sunday afternoon they do a nice sunday roast for under a tenner. I really liked this place because its not pretentious like some of the west end bars I have been too but retains an air of coolness.
