Tall Paul

17 May 08, 09:06 5* Beyond expectations

I'm not a religious person at all but as soon as I walked in I felt over-whelmed. I'm not sure whether it was the beautiful architecture or whether this place really has magical powers but I've never had an emotional experience like this before about a building. If you can, try and light a candle for a loved one, make a donation and if you're neck can take it have a look at the painted ceiling. Did you know that during the second world war this place was one of only a few buildings untouched during a heavy night of bombing by the germans in the blitz and thank goodness, as it is a great building built using Portland Stone from Dorset.

Christmas Cracker!

12 May 08, 19:25 5* Beyond expectations

Even if you're not the go to church every Sunday kind of girl i'd recommend going at Christmas for a carol service or christingle. It's all very well wandering around St Paul's during tourist hours, but you can't truly appreciate the splendor of the place until you've seen it being used for it's original purpose.

Whispering gallery

11 May 08, 19:26 4* Above expectations

The best bit of St Pauls Cathedral, other than the overall magnificance of the architecture (it was designed by Christopher Wren, and it is a stunning building) is the whispering gallery. Go when it's quiet, get your friend to stand round the other side, whisper into the circular wall and they'll be able to hear what you're saying (when it's busy you only hear the person next to you!?) Okay, I know technology has moved on a bit (have you seen what an itouch can do!) but it still amazes me!
