Vanilla - a peaceful and welcome sanctuary

After watching how some commercial sandwiches are made it is a blessing to find this lovely little coffee shop on my doorstep that pays immaculate attention to detail on sourcing organic and beautifully fresh produce. Just as much care is also made in making my sandwich while I wait, on the bread (of which there are many amazing options) I fancy, with as many as ingredients as I need and no upturned eyebrows at my weird taste and fussiness. Well worth a visit in your lunch hour to wind down and fill up! Well done Vanilla

Brillant Tea Party

Beyond expectations
My-self and 12 guests had an afternoon tea party at Vanilla on 20/05/08. I would highly reccomend Vanilla for a place to go and have a relaxing and enjoyable time. We had various sandwiches, cakes, fruit and drinks. The food was delicious all home-made from organic produce. It was excellent value for money. Janice and her staff were very attentive to us. Would definitely go again.
Vanilla: should you bother?

Answer: Yes, but a) if you live within walking distance and b) if you don't mind waiting 25 minutes for an over-priced pannini that may well be organic but plain to say the least (no tomato? no salad?) and c) if you really can't face an honest-to-goodness greasy spoon of which Acton has many. I write this because I really want Vanilla to work and in doing so not be a North Chiswick middle class hellhole. Jolly nice staff, the place looks fine (anyone who remembers Lehane's restaurant in the same venue will be relieved having been in its follow-on, The Coyote). However, it costs too much (£4.50 for what is essentially a ham and cheese sandwich in posh hot bread) and takes forever. And it doesn't open on Sundays. When the place over the road opens it will have serious competition. Once these simple things are overcome, I'm sure it will be great, but for now a) call to check its open and b) give the staff a friendly chivvy-along once you're there...
Vanilla - organic deli and cafe

Vanilla isn't a speedy place to have a cup of coffee but it is a pleasant one. The coffees, teas and everything else are organic and carefully sourced.
The soup is home made, vegetarian and delicious. Sandwiches are made to order, slowly but with love. Roast Beef and Horseradish on brown. Yum. The decor is delightful and there is a charming small garden out the back.
There's a deli section selling breads, dairy produce, meats and juices plus fresh vegetables. They run an organic vegetable box delivery, organic meat delivery and fresh fish from Devon arrives every Thursday.
There are other events as well: a book club meets on the first Sunday afternoon of the month and I think there's a writing class.
In fact Vanilla is the hub of middle-class life in Acton.
