Royal Teas is a vibrant cafe at the heart of Royal Hill. It is a community hub that is unique in Greenwich. It is also the only local establishment that provides home cooked vegetarian fare. Smoked salmon is the only concession to this. Being independent and with its friendly atmosphere it encourages an attachment of its clientele, thereby helping to sustain the feeling of community.

Royal Teas has been serving homemade cakes, soups and lunches for as long as anyone can remember. The food at Royal Teas is a healthy and well priced alternative to the other eating establishments in Greenwich.

A MUST place to visit

27 Oct 09, 03:49 5 Beyond expectations

On holiday (from Australia) and visited this cafe as it was given a good review in the Lonely Planet "London" Encounter book - we were not disappointed - it was great on all counts - food, atmosphere, price and service - highly recommend.

Let's go for a royal time!!

I have been a regular customer in royal tea for ages now and I still love going there... This because of so many reasons: cakes, food, atmosphere, staff, etc. You should definitively stop there once you come to Greenwich!!

An oasis in the desert

30 Nov 07, 23:39 5 Beyond expectations

It goes without saying that these days any establishment providing coffee really has to know its beans! and be able to make a latte/cappuchino/mahciato that the discerning international customer remember. Not only does Royal Teas achive this with ease but extraordinarily also offers mouth drooling home made cakes, tasty soups & healthy snacks and a hot lunch option for less than a fiver, all this in the Captial!! Add to that staff that are friendly and a relaxed atmoshere and you have the perfect little oasis away from the plethera of dull high street expensive establishments. Keep on rocking Royal Teas!!

Royal Teas, hidden away just yards from the busy centre of Greenwich village, is a friendly home from home. The lovely uniqueness and quirkiness of this old style cafe is really refreshing in these days of global high street repetition. The food is wonderful and there are always daily specials and their home made cakes are just delicious. All of this without breaking the bank! Coffee can be served any way you can think of, more or less, and if coffee is not your thing then try one of the many teas, fruit and herbal if you're cutting down on your caffeine. The staff are always friendly and when not too busy will happily have a chat. It really is the only cafe to go to if you're visiting Greenwich.

My favorite caf

28 Nov 07, 05:46 5 Beyond expectations

Going to Royal Teas is like going to your friend's house. When your friend is a very good cook. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and well-priced and the atmosphere is cosy and homey. The coffee is really much better at Royal Teas than at any of the big coffee chains, and a lot cheaper. My favorite Royal Teas foods: American Breakfast and carrot cake. Watch out, though, the portions are very generous.

My favourite place

25 Nov 07, 12:50 5 Beyond expectations

Royal Teas makes for a remarkably convivial, snug retreat. They serve wonderful coffee…the best I have had, and fabulous food. There is such great warmth to the atmosphere in the café – the staff are fantastically likeable and friendly - it really is a special place…there is absolutely nothing about it I would change.

Tea shop with a heart

24 Nov 07, 12:43 5 Beyond expectations

Royal Teas is a warm and quirky haven from the trendy but soul-less coffee shop chains which are overwhelming London's high streets. The tea shop menu is all vegetarian, and in spite of being slightly suspicious of things 'non-meaty' there are a number of items on the menu like their American Breakfast (bean mix in a tortilla, topped with cheese, salsa, fried eggs and fried potatoes) and their herbed eggy bread that I would lead a riot for if there was even the suggestion of changing the menu. Each day there is a different main course lunch - my wife had an excellent sweetcorn curry the other day. More so than the menu, is the sense of being in a place that is unique and special. The place is slightly laid back and I find I relax into it - the staff are exceptionally kind and before long you start to get the reassuring sense of being a regular. The best indicator of how well loved this venue is, is how frequently it is heaving with customers, snoozing pets and mumbling kids. Itis often the thought of not getting a table that finally propels me out of bed just before opening time on a Sunday morning.

One of South Londons cosiest, most inviting cafes

21 May 07, 17:15 5 Beyond expectations

This vegetarian cafe and coffee shop on the picturesque Royal Hill in Greenwich is one of South Londons cosiest, most inviting cafes. As soon as you walk in you are hit by the smell of freshly ground coffee, and the food is tasty and imaginative. Breakfasts (served all day) recall nursery childhood treats like eggy bread and cheesy beans with Marmite soldiers; lunches include hummus with crudities, or Mexican nachos; while a range of cakes and scones is baked daily. You can also buy coffee beans in half and quarter kilo bags: the selection includes Kenya Peaberry, French Roast, Mountain Blend, Continental and Moka Ethiopian.
