Yum! REAL Viet styles

27 Aug 08, 23:07 4* Above expectations

I went tonight and I was impressed. Just like being back there! Fresh, intense authentic flavours and Hue beer too! The service was a bit dodgy at first, but our waitress was very nice and knew the menu backwards. The monkfish hotpot was amazing and took much less than the 'long time' I was told (it was a docile Wednesday night though) and the spicy lemongrass and chilli pork spare ribs are the bomb! They don't hold back on the spices.

In short; quick and delicious and service not dissimilar to a local restaurant in Vietnam. Top points for the cheesy pic with Tony Blair above the counter!

Four stars,I'll be back with friends!

Authentic

I second everything Sorrel M said above.

Very tasty authentic food. Busy little place with waiting staff often rushed or confused. Rather off the beaten track, and the place to take your foodie friend to impress them with your ability to find this little gem. Not a place to go for a romantic date or if you are in a hurry but if you want quality Vietnamese food for not much money you won't be disappointed.

Delicious

This restaurant is raved about, in every London restaurant review book or site. So I couldn't bring myself to give it five stars, because most visitor's expectations will be pretty high. However, you will not be disappointed. The food is superb.

If you like your restaurants swanky then skip this one - it used to be the canteen of the Vietnamese Community Centre and it's a bit shabby. But for those of us who can overlook that, it does have a lot of charm.

I go there fairly often, I've eaten from every part of the menu, and have never had a bad meal. My Aussie and American friends (who know their Vietnamese food) say it is amongst the best they've ever had.

The staff are friendly and the wonderful food is surprisingly good value.

On the down side: Service can occasionally be a little slow and the menu isn't especially vegetarian friendly if that veggie is strict.

You HAVE to make a reservation at the weekend or you will NOT get a table.
