I've been going there for over 20 years! And like everyone else, I thoroughly recommend him. A very friendly, helpful, good-natured man and the same goes for his staff. I'd choose Stephen and the team over Specsavers anyday!

I've been going to Stephen Davis for about 15 years. I am very short sighted and have nystagmus as well, and when I first went to him he changed my prescription and it was a dramatic improvement. He really cares about improving your vision, and about eye and general health, and he always explains what he is doing. A really good reliable service.

Having attended my appointment this past week, I had a thorough eye examination by Mr Davis, needing new spectacles, and was taken through the process of selection and being measured by Edyta, the traineee, who was excellent and very helpful, giving me much needed advice. I also chatted to the receptionist, who is from New Zealand, and who phoned me beforehand to confirm my appointment the following day. A very friendly and professional Practice which I would highly recommend. :-) Includes a wide array of quality frames in all styles to choose from, reasonably priced. By the way I am from N.16, not Canonbury, so local to the Practice.

I have been attending this Optician's practice since the age of 15 in 1976! It's a relief to know he's still located at the same surgery, as continuity in healthcare is very important in my view. He always remembers all aspects of his patient's health, and as a Diabetic who needs speacial eye exams, I find him very caring, thorough and professional. He always chats to you in a friendly way, is never rushed, and even answers the phone himself sometimes to book appointments, and remembers you after you haven't seen him for ages!! Personal service that is much appreciated in these times of dogmatic NHS style conveyor belt treatment. Highly recommended. Mr Davis' lovely wife is often on the reception desk too, and is very helpful when selecting new specs or any problems you may have. A quality service, and much needed locally.

I'm very short sighted and have always been a bit fussy about going to a good optician - I just don't feel entirely comfortable with the high street ones, and want to make sure that I get a comprehensive eye test that checks for all possible problems as well as measuring your sight for glasses/contact lenses etc. I've been going to Stephen Davis since moving here three years ago, and would definitely recommend him (though he does have another colleague who does eye tests too).

It's a very personal service - they're never rushed and will take the time to answer endless questions and find the right contact lenses for you etc. Stephen always updates me on the new development in contact lenses when I go in, so I know what options I have. It would be a shame if the likes of specsavers squeezed out independent outlets like this one.
