No silver spoon(s)

Below expectations
You'd think the Wetherspoons in Angel would try to up their game a bit given the standard of competition they face but it appears that's not the case. Only good thing to be said for this one is it's pretty much right opposite the tube station so you don't have far to go if you've got to get away.

The Angel (JD Wetherspoon)

Well below expectations
I don't like Wheather Spoon's and this is no exception. Cheap, tacky, grimy, no music, and smells of stale beer, old men and sick. The one and only reason to set foot in here is if you can't resist the cheap prices. Chavs and drunks fill seats outside looking down from the raised area through blood shot eyes to the passers by on Highbury corner.

Very cheap pub

As expected
This is a nice local pub that has a very cute resident dog. Unfortunately the Angel can't seem to decide whether it's a top end pub (the crisps on offer are Kettle Chips; there are fish tanks in the floor) or a comfy local Highgate pub. Despite being a bit confused as to its identity, the Angel is nevertheless a nice place to go for a pint.

A grimy, horrible Wetherspoons
15 May 07, 15:37
Well below expectations
As far as pubs go, I confess I'm not a big fan of Wetherspoons as a chain. Often soulless, rough, grimey dumps, these pubs are a prime example of what goes wrong when chains take over. This prejudice has suited me well over the years, and it takes something extra rare for me to change my mind about this chain. The Angel didn't come close. Your usual dump, this pub reminds me of everything which is wrong with this chain. Yellow, overly crowded, cold, and excedingly boring, The Angel is everything you would expect from these people. Avoid like the plague.
