Blows hot and cold

I have a love and hate relationship with this pub. When it's great, it's amazingly great but when they get it wrong, they do so spectacularly.
The food is good but if you ever try The Crown for lunch, be warned, you'll probably wait an inordinate amount of time and get the wrong order.
Yummy Pub Grub

This pub is situated in Clerkenwell green and is rather charming. It has a real old pub feel to it with traditional pub colours adorning the inside. It does have some slightly edgier, more modern features to it, like some retro wallpaper in places and some funky modern seating. The atmosphere is really pleasant and it was reasonably quiet for a week night. Drinks and food were both reasonably priced. The house wine was really enjoyable. The staff were eager to please and very friendly. The food I ordered was really tasty and perfectly balanced. My salmon fishcakes with asparagus was cooked to perfection and the portion was ample. I would would most certainly go back again!
A Great Summer Pub

Above expectations
The Crown is a nice pub all year round but really comes into it's own during the summer months (not that we have been having much of those recently).
During hotter times the busy working people of Farringdon spill out into Clerkenwell Green lapping up any bit of sun we are fortunate to get.
The Crown does a nice selection of draught and bottled beers, and, according to friends, the food is pretty good too. But, if you are planning on heading down on a hot Friday afternoon, prepare for a bit of a fight to the bar.

Nice and cosy with decent draught beers

This little pub is popular, but bigger than you expect inside thanks to the inside snaking back into the building quite a distance.
The beers are pretty good and probably just under the Central London average for a pint. They do some interesting guest beers too and a few fruit beers which are a refreshing change.
The food is also excellent from what little I've had, cheapish and decent pub food such as a steak sandwich with chips would set you back £7 quid or so.
Be warned that at 'peak' times, say after work on a Friday, it can get very busy around this area with people spilling out into the streets.
