Good Pub: Recommeded!

Above expectations
Can get very busy in the evenings and that is half the fun.
Everyone seems friendly.
There is often an air of expectancy that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's the possibility of a celeb or two turning up now and then?
The shows are popular. Good ambience - definately not a theme bar .
If you want a fun night out in Islington The Kings Head Upper St should do the trick.

Theatre Pub

As expected
A pub that has plays so it has a more upmarket crowd and a lot more older crowd. Still, its a nice pub to drink at but I think its a little out of place on upper street, even thou it is Islington. I haven't gone to see anything shown there but I have been told its quite good stuff they put on the bill. Probably best to make sure you go that nothing is on thou unless you are actually going to see a show there.

The Kings Head

Beyond expectations
One of the most famous features of Upper street is this fantastic pub theatre. Its was built in the 19th Century and still has many original features such as gas lamps and a old till that needs to be cranked to work! Great place to see plays being previewed and a good place to spot the Uk's finest. Patron of this establishment is Joanna Lumley and presidents include Victoria Wood and Maureen Lipmann. There is always live music after every performance.

Raucous theatre and pub

Above expectations
The King's Head is something of an institution for regular theatre goers. The theatre productions that the King's Head attracts go above and beyond what you'd expect from an upstairs room in an inconspicuous pub on Upper Street. So it's always worth checking out the latest show; you might just stumble across someone very famous. The pub is also great. It is very casual, but at the same time pretty cool. There is rarely an entrance fee (donations to the live acts are asked for instead) and there seems to be no maximum capacity - crowds spill out onto the streets every Friday and Saturday night. The two men playing acoustic guitar guarantees much drunken singing along and dancing.
