Living near this pub is an absolute nightmare. The noise of revellers who seem to think screaming and shouting once leaving this pub is shameful. The pub itself I have frequented on several occasions, the food is average and the bar staff try to be curteous, but due to the fact it can be so busy at weekends, can be quite brusque.

I much prefer the Island queen pub, which has worked with the residents to keep an orderly public house, but a place where decent food and entertainment is avaiable. I also applaud its staff including the managers who are always readily available for queries.

Superb location

Sunday lunches are nice but can get a bit busy during the summer so best to book early. Screens upstairs where you can relax and watch the football...

Chilling by the Canal

23 Jun 07, 22:35 4* Above expectations

Make sure you stop and have a drink in this bar if you happen to go for a wander down the canal between Angel and Hackney. It's split over 2 floors with great views over the canal - making it the perfect place to have a rest and watch the world go by. They also serve very decent food, although the menu is relatively limited.

One warning, it can get pretty packed during weekends in the summer so you may not get a seat straightaway.
