Veggie delight

28 May 08, 10:04 5 Beyond expectations

The food here is fantastic! Really. I don't think my Mum could cook a veggie breakfast to beat that. The toast comes how it should do, thick white and buttered and my friend had an Oriental Platter which she said was pretty tasty too.

The place has really nice staff that don't rush you and even recommend what they like if you ask. All the desserts are homemade, so you may have to get a few with a friend and share, I have tried them all and apart from the cheese cake (which I don't like anyway), they are yummy.

The tables are large and old and made for groups of friends, so I wouldn't really say that this is the place to go on a romantic date. This place is a hidden gem. I didn't expect much at all and it blew me away.

Like it alot!

Despite being a regular visitor to Angel on a Saturday, only discovered this place a couple of months back. If you want to push it to 4 in the morning this place gives you another choice rather than having to go to the once-revered but now-waning Elbow Rooms.

One of the few bars to be small (sorry cosy) yet still have two floors. Music is excellent, as the DJ goes on an unusual odyssey through old-school motown, classic hip-hop and electro breakdancing beats. Sounds nuts but it works! Quite a low ceiling downstairs but the air-conditioning is the best I've experienced outside of New York City. The only problem with the venue is some of the crowd. Whilst everyone is generally friendly there appears to be a lot of attitude from the posh boys in there. If you have a mild level of rhythm and are enjoying yourself (heaven forbid) they tend to resent this and will do all they can to push and shove.

That aside this a great little find. The tunes are amazing and the venue is nice enough if you can handle the £4 cover. Just make sure you keep your best dance moves at home!

The Winchester

04 May 07, 19:18 3 As expected

Seems like a cool place. Only popped in for a quick drink on a Sunday afternoon. Table where booked or full of Sunday lunchers. The meals looked large and good quality. The beer was good but no real ale or small glasses of wine. Looking forward to go back a get more rounded option.
