Above expectations
Right in the middle of Portobello where the road crosses and with all the stuff going on around here you might miss it. But its definitely worth a visit, its not that appealing from the outside which is why you might miss it, but inside whilst still not too impressive, the service, food and drinks are. Its Tapas at its best, with every great dish followed by another, its pipping hot and fresh and full of flavour.

Beyond expectations
If you like rustic, tasty tapas served in a traditional, understated Spanish environment then you have to check out Galicia.
As any resident of Westborne Grove/Notting Hill will tell you, Galicia is a local gem.
It looks a bit gruby from the outside (the inside could also do with a lick of paint) but that's ok because they've put their energies into what really matters - the food & wine are superb. They serve all the usual favourites (spicy chorizo, pimientos, patatas bravas...) and a few less obvious - the squid in black ink is out of this world.
What i really love about this place is the atmosphere. It's buzzy, friendly and full of character. You need to book a table most nights and definately on weekend. If you get there early they have a cool little bar to hang out at serving Spanish beers, wine & some nice Cava if that tickles your fancy. The service is laid back but not rude; the waiters have been working there for years and they know the score.
It's also a haunt for local celebs. I sat next to David Cameron the other day. The nice thing was that nobody bothered him or treated him any differently - that wouldn't happen in most countries.
I love this place and you will to. Enjoy.
