The lap of luxury - at a price

Above expectations
This is not a place I’d normally hand over large sums of money to frequent but, as it was, a very good friend decided I needed a costly treat in repayment for the shoulder of support I’d lent him over the previous months.
So I didn’t hesitate to wend my way to this small luxurious hotel lovingly restored from four grand 19th century houses – and soon found its equally, if not in parts even more, luxurious spa an experience well worth lavishing on myself.
Luckily for me, I had £200 to splurge and attempted quite a few of the treatments available – from an authentic hammam (Turkish bath) to a 45-minute full-body exfoliation treatment using Turkish black olive soap gently slathered on with a goat’s hair glove, followed by an invigorating mint scrub. I then braced my face for a “smoothie” exfoliating facial chock-full of fruit enzymes, as opposed to one specially created from roses to open my pores or another to thoroughly oxygenate and aerate my visage.
Between each new pampering process, I stoked up my waning energy on the complimentary bananas and honey, buttery handmade biscuits and mint tea provided.
Close on 3½ hours later, I left my day’s unusual destination feeling decidedly more loved-up and ready to face the bustling world outside in a deeply cleansed way.
Though my few past forays into the world of spas, saunas and such like here and abroad had been reasonable enough, after this particularly pleasant jolly, I'd say that a visit to this spa would be well worth your time - if you're prepared to pay the going price.
