Lunch in Knightsbridge anyone?

As expected
The Oratory looks kinda wacky from the outside with its crazy mosaicy, over the top ornate mirrors and swathes of gold paint but it's actually a very sedate, safe, good restaurant with brilliant (cheap) wine. This place is owned by the same people who own the Wine Gallery and Brinkleys (Hollywood Road, SW10) so the wine is as good here as it is there. Great for Saturday girly lunches. On the negative side, the service (especially during the week at lunchtime, where it's a popular business lunch venue) is very slow, which can be frustrating. Also, the loos are miles and miles away, round the back, you have to walk through twisty corridors to get there, and once there, they are disappointing. If the decor in the restaurant is overthetop , the decor in the bathroom is non existent! Apart from these things, it is a really good, reliable eatery. Good value for money. And great if you are visiting the museums opposite (V&A, Natural History Museum etc), really convenient.
