By the river

27 May 08, 18:08 4* Above expectations

We booked to have a family get together here during the bank holiday weekend. However, we then heard from friends who had been before, that whilst the food was great the service was non-existent.

However, this wasn’t the case! The food was excellent, the wine great value and the service very attentive. This may have been a one off as the restaurant wasn’t too busy given, so I'll look forward to seeing a few more reviews.

The menu is varied from BBQ ribs; pan fried pigeon; melon, Feta & Chilli ice cream, Steak and Sea Bass. There must be around 30 main courses – this raises a few doubts about how fresh the food is, but there we were no complaints from our table.

This is a great place to spend an afternoon by the river come rain or shine. The boathouse is vast yet quirky and there is quiet a big terrace for sunny days.

Great spot

03 May 08, 13:47 5* Beyond expectations

This is one of the nicest gastro-pubs around, great food and service, good range of drinks and it's in one of the nicest spots you can imagine, right on the River Thames. Highly recommended.

Not your average bar!

27 Apr 08, 12:54 5* Beyond expectations

This is a beautiful bar, a perfect site for lazy summer weekend afternoons to sit by the river and eat and drink. And you really could not get closer to the water, to the rear you find decking on which to sit outside with your friends, with a close up view of the charming Raven's Ait Island, a tiny isle in the middle of the Thames accessible by a two minute ferry ride. The wines at Hart's Boatyard are lovely and smooth and the beers are great, Grolsch on tap. There is a nice big car park outside. Inside, the decor of the place is exquisite with wooden floors, comfortable chairs and sofas, high ceiling beams and tasteful modern art on the walls. It is spacious and welcoming and just exudes class, everyone who lives anywhere near Kingston needs to check this place out!
