Above expectations
A good, pub with good atmosphere.
Just across the way from clapham North tube you can't help but go in. A good place for singles who are on the prowel and host some special nights.
Celeb Gethin from Strictly Come Dancing even was there!

As expected
Since they have spent some money on this place it is pretty good. It is attracting a pretty cool crowd now days and I think an increase in prices has moved some people on which is a good thing.
The decor is pretty cool and for a couple of drinks it is a nice place to go.

2 years ago, your feet would stick to the 1970's lino when you entered this place.
Post refurb, its now funky, dark and full of young beautiful people in the evening when it takes on a more club atmosphere. Agree with Daniel H - being served can be a problem in the evenings.
During the day it morphs into its second personality - a smart gastro pub. During sunny days the front of the building opens up - there are limited tables at the front on the main road - giving the place a nice open feel. The food is above expectations and above normal gastro pub fare. The breakfast is particularly good but you can have snacks and full on meals as you please.It is relatively expensive.
Hint: The Bloody Marys are great.
It has a TV screen at the back for those football fans and you can also hire out the back part for a private function (Well, you could a year ago).
A evening venue in its own right.

Below expectations
I have been here twice and on both occasions it has been furiously busy, since it is a very pleasant place.
However, they never seem to be able to get the balance between crowd and bar staff, and waited on various occasions for 15 to 20 minutes to get a drink... this was experienced by everyone else in my party and is pretty unacceptable for a small-ish venue.
I have heard from a reliable source that the food is very good during the day, so use it as a day venue or a place to start early eve, and then move on up the High Street (avoiding Infernos, of course).

A surprising nice pub just before you approach Clapham high street and opposite the road from the entrance to Clapham North Tube Station (On the Northern Line). You will pay a little bit over the odds for a few things on the food and drinks menu but there is something quite nice about this pub I can't put my finger on. On fridays and saturdays they have a dj playing there until about 1 or 2am which is good and theres a good atmosphere here when they are on. Definately worth a visit if you are near clapham high street on a weekend.
