Really interesting

29 Apr 08, 12:27 4* Above expectations

I really enjoyed my visit here - full with lots of interesting facts and exhibitions, when I went they was a very harrowing Holocaust exhibition which although hard to look at gave a great insight into the time - they do history really well.

Tanks and stuff

24 Apr 08, 18:35 4* Above expectations

I spent hours in here and only looked aorund the entrance, which is full of tanks and stuff. Very interesting, but i suspect more so if you are a boy! Also looked aorund the children in WW2 section which was quite moving and interesting. It's not a boring museum, but not hands on either. It's free to get in but the cafe is an absolute rip off! And the cake is gross!

Moving and interesting

23 Apr 08, 11:49 5* Beyond expectations

I love this Museum - it's full of fascinating information about War and Conflict. And unlike many museum's it's actually kept constantly up to date, so it's a kind of living breathing exhibit of warfare past and present.

Not sure if the Holocaust exhibition is still there, but if it is, I would thoroughly recommend it - very moving, and an important part of history we should all learn from

lots of planes and gore

01 Feb 08, 21:03 3* As expected

I thought it was ok, but not a patch on the same one in Manchester - this seemed to be heavy on the machinary of war, but not so impressive on the causes and effects.

Still my god children loved it - ieven the gory bits.....

By far my favourite museum. I love the trench experience, when it isn't full of small children getting under my feet.

Well set out and full to the brim, you need an entire day to view the whole thing.

I particularly liked the 1940s house they had there one year, it was just like stepping back in time.

The big sign showing how much of london would be destroyed and the damage it would cause to health etc if a nuclear bomb were to land on the museum was fascinating. Pretty much everyone who lives within the m25 would be scewed.

Brilliant day out- excellent, yet overpriced gift shop (as always).

Well worth a visit- and its free!

Great war museum

13 Jul 07, 16:10 4* Above expectations

national museum of war and wartime life from the first world way to present wars which have occured. Very knowledgable place to go for children to gain insight into how war has affected each one of us today, its also free for children. Adult tickets are reasonable around 7 pound. They have different exhibitions on each few months. The last one i went to was the Camouflage exhibition, i think its still on, its amazing to see how it has had an impact on todays fashion.

Imperial War Museum

A great museum covering the wars of the 20th century. Free admission except for special exhibitions. Good information presented well for young and old. They have a cinema which shows films connected to the subject. Often rare or old, so if you're interested in cinema and 20 century conflict, keep an eye on the listings. It's easy to get to by public transport, so a great free, easy and interesting day out.
