If you love food.

If you love food then you'll love Borough Market.
It's right near Borough tube, London Bridge tube or London Bridge train station, so very easy to get to.
This is food lovers heaven, With many sections for different produce you can easily loose yourself here for a many hours. If you like fresh fruit and vegetables - there's everything you can imagine and all seemingly organic.
If dairy's your thing. I've never seen so many cheeses in one place and with stalls overing you tasters each way you turn, you will sure experience new cheesy delights and will never stick with Cheddar again.
Fresh meats, spices, breads - lots of breads. So much.
It does get busy, so as long as you can stomach the crowds and especially the tourists - it'll be ok.
I recommend you do as I, and take a break and treat yourself to something from one of the food stalls serving everything from crepes, to fallafal to fresh juices and sit in the nearby cathedral gardens to recharge your batteries.
Take cash, it's easier :)

Good food costs more!

I love food and therefore I love Borough Market! It's a veritable assault on the senses, with colours, sounds, sights and smells everywhere you turn. There is prepared food to eat while you make your way around the market; and plenty of choice for tonight's dinner.
As you would expect, the quality of the food is reflected in the price; those used to supermarket prices should stay well clear. Personally, I think great food is worth paying for and will happily dig a little deeper.
The only downside is that it can get really busy. They need to implement some sort of one way system, especially as the volume of people can add to the overwhelmingness of the market.
I will definitely be making regular trips here to experiment with different foodstuffs in my cooking...
Still as great as ever

There can't be many Londoners who haven't heard of Borough Market by now.
Open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, it's 'the' place to get fresh, local, organic and wonderfully tasting food. You want it? They've got it...
whether it's top-notch meat, fish, fruit and veg, cheese, bread... I could go on.
Filled with famous names, such as Brindisa and Ginger Pig, but also less well-known, but no worse for that, suppliers, the selection of produce on offer is mind-boggling.
The one downside is how busy it is. If you go on a Saturday, get there as early as you can. The same with Thursdays and Fridays... go there as soon as it opens.
It's bloody great - go there once and you'll want to return again and again

A market marvel

Friday at Borough market is as much an experience as it is a place to buy fresh produce. And in both, it is really great. It's got pretty much everything you'd expect from a food market, but it's probably better than anywhere you've been. You want cheese. You got it. You want olives, meze, or bread. Fill yer boots. Fresh meat or quality confectionery? There's plenty of that too. And it has more giant fresh fruit and veg from the four corners of the world (some of which you'll never have heard of) than you could shake an oversized legume at.
The fresh fish stall is quality entertainment as well, although a little gory! If you've ever wondered how they fillet yellow fin tuna which, incidentally, are as big as a medium to large sized family dog, then the public demonstration reveals all.
Then there's the beer stall. Amazing! If you love larger, ale, wine, cider etc from all over the world this is a revelation. Ok, so the stallholder might look like a cross between Anthony Worrel-Thompson and a particularly angry Hells-Angel reject but he's really helpful when you're selecting that special 14% Belgium beer for a quiet night in.
There are also numerous places to get a spot of lunch, whether that be Chorizo rolls, venison or veal burgers, kebabs or much more. They all look good. They all smell amazing. And, sadly, they'll all have a long queue.
There is, however, a sting in the tail. It's usually really busy, especially at lunchtime, and it ain't cheap. I once bought a hand picked bag of fresh salad (various lettuces, rockets etc)...and not a very big bag at that...and it came to about £4. So, you're unlikely to do you weekly shop there but it's worth treating yourself now and again because the food is really good and, if you look for them, there are bargains to be had.
I hope I'm doing it justice but, if you have haven't guessed, I really like it.
