It's all about Hat Sunday

A cool drinking venue for anyone visiting Peckham Rye or East Dulwich. Not much choice on draft, but an excellent selection of bottled beers from around the world. The cocktail menu looks good, going well beyond the usual fruity chain pub suspects.
If you go on any day I recommend you head along on "Hat Sunday" when the locals choose a different hat to wear from the dress up box provided. After an hour of abstaining a friend and I had to join in. I have, as a result, learned I can't pull off a trilby.
Cheap and cheerful cocktails in a railway arch

I asked my friend who has lived in Peckham to come meet me at a bar for a drink, and her response was: "WHAT? There's a bar in Peckham?". Well, there is, and it's situated directly underneath the BR station in a railway arch and it's a fab place to hang out and loiter (after all, railway arches are made for loitering). It's a no-frills kind of place that gets particularly rammed between 6pm - 8pm when it's happy hour, then clears out either side of that usually. They do great cocktails, plus they also serve food, but since the regular chef Dustin left, the food's been a bit hit and miss, so I'm not sure about recommending the food. But if you're after somewhere to get some cheap cocktails, then you can't go wrong with happy hour. Plus you can chuff away on fags in the marqueed area outside. Kids are also welcome, but don't worry, it's not overrun with little nippers. There's a DJ some nights and more importantly, there's free wireless, so you'll see lots of bods with laptops sat in a corner of the bar.
There's also an art gallery out the back called The Sassoon Gallery.
