My Excellent Local

I have to agree with Kieran and Lorraine on the Rye Hotel. This is probably my nearest pub, and fast becoming a favourite.
On winter evenings it's a warm, cosy haven, bedecked as it is with fairy lights and boasting large roaring fires. In the summertime, the back garden and bedouin-tent style back rooms become popular late-night hangouts, with the pub even putting on the occasional barbeque. The atmosphere changes with the seasons, from lively festival-esque beer tent to laid-back country-pub Scrabble venue, and I like both.
My one reservation would be that as it's such a child-friendly place it can get pretty full of families, babies and loud children on weekend afternoons. But hey. You gotta love 'em, the little darlings. This is (almost) East Dulwich, after all...

Yikes! It's expensive... is Peckham the new Dulwich?

Crikey, I was looking for somewhere cheap in Peckham to grab some lunch and ended up here after dismissing the Clockhouse on Barry Road as too expensive. Whilst the food is amazing, I would query the prices as they are really quite steep. It IS Peckham, after all. But having said that, I've ended up eating here a few times now, so it must be worth paying the price!
The chicken noodles with wontons, the green curry and the spring rolls. Although I felt a bit queasy after eating the chicken sausages one time.
But I second the cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Plus they have free internet access which is a bonus as my flaky internet connection often means that I have to go out and about in order to check my emails.
Apparently the garden here is very nice.
Groups: I love Peckham

Rye Hotel is a regular destination of ours. The menu at this Gastro pub has something to please everyone: shareable snacks like mezze, spring rolls and tasty main course dishes always fresh tasting and well presented.
The atmosphere is great, eclectic victoriana decor, big open fireplace, big comfy sofas (if you get there before the rush) and enough open space to not feel cramped. The staff are generally quite friendly too.
