A total shopping experience

Who cares if the owner is a little nutty there are some lovely little family bits around Harrods like on some of the pillars going up the escalators hes put his kids hand prints on them, and his passion has made the store what it is. The clothes, shoes, wedding, jewellery sections are all unique and stunning but its the food hall that is out of this world. On the ground floor section off into delis, meats and treats the chocolate section is like nothing ive seen. And the service is above impecable.

Tourist shopping attraction

This place is owned by Mohammud Alfayed and I was surprised with it's reputation that it didn't feel as snooty as I thought it would. They have lots of expensive stuff as well as very affordable stuff. There are lots of places to eat dotted around and you never know, you might even bump in to a celebrity. Their Christmas department opens at the end of the summer but is still worth checking out and they often have other special displays making it more of an experience rather than a day out shopping. This is a big place so be careful not to get lost. They have their own car park too which if you're willing to pay £15 for a couple of hours is well worth it...they even park your car for you!

London's biggest corner shop

I like it even though I don't want to! It's maybe a tourist attraction rather than somewhere you'd want to go shopping, and let's be honest, who just pops in to Harrods for a few things? That said the Food Hall is a real treat!

An Institution

Beyond expectations
I have been lucky enough to have been able to go here a few times and each time im more impressed than the others! The building is a knockout in itself! At night time it looks very grande and the depts when you get in just blow you away. It has far too much to describe in a short review but the food hall for me just need as much time as possible! A brilliant British institution and it makes me very proud to be British!!

I had never been here until about a year ago. I had built up in my mind what the store would be like and to be absolutely truthful, it was much smaller than I amagined. the most impressive part for me personally was the food hall. I have never seen such an array of chocolates, fruit and packaged goodies. the store was a litlle confusing to make you way around and I got lost a couple of time. would recommend for a one off visit!

Sale....
28 Apr 08, 09:21
Beyond expectations
The Sale is usually very good value and there are bargains to be had throughout the store. On my last visit I found myself on the ground floor in a lovely wood panneld room where they sold Ralph Lauren. I picked up a lovely Polo top, saved a packet and the staff were very friendly & honest too (told me that the colour I had picked didn't suit me - which I now agree with).
I also had a hair cut from the barbers in the basement, (entrance & staircase found in the Menswear dept). Which was quite expensive compared to my usual place but the girl was charming and washed it for no extra charge (possibly owing to its length).
Anything and everything!

I love Harrods. You can spend hours wandering around this huge department store, just make sure you have your credit card to hand.
My favourite areas have to be the food shop and the chocolate cafe which is not to be missed.
If you can afford to shop here, great! If not you can pick up some lovely gifts and join the tourists window shopping.

Brilliant but you need to spend a pound to spend a penny...

I love going to Harrods, I can't afford to buy much other than tea and maybe a sandwich in the cafe, but I still love it all the same. I can't quite describe what it is about Harrods that makes it so appealing and fun. It is a massive department store (just in case you didn't know!) and has everything anyone could possibly want or need under one roof. The foodhall is amazing and I envy the people who can do their weekly shop here. I also love the Harrods Shop, with all the Harrods branded products which make brilliant little gifts for friends who live outside London as everyone has heard of Harrods.
The cafe is really nice and while it is a little bit more expensive than other cafes, it isn't that bad and won't bankrupt you to have tea and cake or a sandwich. There is a brilliant bagel place in the cafe and again it is a little more expensive than other sandwich places, the filled bagels are massive and I think they are worth every penny.
If you are not a Harrods card holder or cannot produce a receipt for products purchased on that day you will need to spend a pound to spend a penny.....

Don't look at the price label

My Dad always says about Harrods "If you have to look at the price label you shouldn't be in Harrods." He's right with most of the stuff on sale, except maybe some of the amazing produce in the food hall. Anyway, it doesn't matter if you can't afford anything (well, it might matter to you, but it's never particularly upset me) 'cos you can just wander round and people watch. I remember as a child watching the world's most spoilt child being bought an electric car to drive round her estate - amazing. It's also brilliant to take tourists round, American's love it!

A very rich husband does help

Never underestimate the power of a discounted Gucci handbag and the effect that it has over a group of women, all running towards the leather room on the first day of the sale. Yes, the Harrods Sale is certainly the most famous in the world, and completely worth it if you've got your eye on something divine. Just don't expect to be the only person who's had their eye on it all season either but is keen to get it at the discounted prices. Oh, and a very rich husband does help.

The popularity of this store attracts celebrities from all over the world. Even if you don't have intentions of buying from harrods its always a excitement to just step into the store! Each floor is entrancing. There's a endless range of high quality products which are very attractive and delightful to look at or even buy if you can afford them! Its even more exciting when the sales are on, knowing you've got a possibility of finding something which may be affordable!

Famous department store

Harrods is surely one of the most famous department stores on earth. I'm pretty sure most people don't visit Harrods with the intention of buying lots of homeware or food; it's more the experience. It is very popular therefore with tourists. I enjoy watching the excessively rich Knightsbridge residents actually buying their weekly shop from the food hall , madness! Harrods is worth a visit, but probably not worth spending any money in, as it is just so expensive.

What more could a girl want, the shoe departments in Harrods? You can buy shoes on five of the seven levels of Harrods! You can pick up some supreme bargains as well as all the must-haves of this season. The clothes range has had a bit of a shake up and is more competitive for twenty-somethings as well as the stylish bargains like Pinko to rival Di Milo's new range. Finally to top off any girls shopping day have some fresh juice and a salad at the Urban Retreat before having a facial and fabulous hair cut. Urban Retreat are second to none!
