As expected
I know every bride wants something different and maybe some people really like that personal in your face attention, i dont and they wouldnt ease off even when i said i would be ok trying it on on my own, i had a friend to do up the back and didnt really want some stranger touching me. I didnt feel they actually cared about my wedding at all.

Well below expectations
I made the mistake of visiting the most attentive and helpful bridal shop before going to The Wedding Shop in Selfridges - which I felt was such a huge let down.
I didn't know where to begin when I started looking for my dress - I had an idea in my head but I really wanted to try on all the different styles to make sure I was buying the right dress, style, colour and detail to suit me (not some 6 ft model I'd seen in a magazine).
The first place I went to asked me to choose the dress that I thought I wanted - which turned out to be a complete nightmare as it didn't suit me at all. Then the shop assistant listened to my comments of what I felt was wrong about the dress and guided me to the perfect dress which I immediately fell in love with.
So when I turned up at Selfridges, I was kind of expecting the same level of service - but sadly this was not to be. I was told to pick out 4 dresses to try on, which was mind-boggling when you're in a tiny area cornered off from the main shop, surrounded by about 150 dresses.
The assistant disappeared for about 15mins and finally returned to find me utterly confused. I asked her to help guide me through the dresses but she told me just to pick 4 that I liked.
I ended up trying on 4 dresses which weren't right for me at all, so the whole thing was a waste of time. I tried to explain what I was looking for but the assistant just didn't offer any advice (perhaps she didn't really know the stock well enough?)
Anyway - I felt that the whole experience was such a let-down and a waste of time, I wouldn't bother going there unless you are absolutely certain you want a Vera Wang original...

There are two places to buy Vera Wang bridal in London, here and at The Wedding Shop Fulham Road. I thoroughly recommend Selfridges boutique , they are one of the few bridal places in London who manage a relaxed atmosphere, flattering lighting, places for your mother and best friend to sit and actually offer you a glass of water/coffee etc They also have the best selection of Vera Wang gowns so you can try pretty much everything from the collection. I found them really helpful, flexible with appointments etc. In the end the dress I chose wasn't a Vera, but for any bride who the modern princess look , this should be your first stop.
