Once you get in here, and if you are not a member then head on in early as you'll need to sweet talk someone in the queue to sign you in other wise. Inside its quite classy and attracts a very decent clientele if you're up for a bit of meat market mingling.

This place is quite exclusive, membership means the chavs that ruin some of the cities best areas can't come in here, really pleasent and home to some great live music and dj's.

This is a membership only place, well after about 8oclock, before then if you are on a early one, you can get in if they arent busy. Its over a hundred quid but it keeps the riff raff out and you can always expect a decent crowd in here.

Nice central bar, good atmosphere, unpretentious & not too expensive.

The Phoenix artist's club is just off Charing Cross Road and is a nice bar to go to to start off a night. The clientele seem to be quite mixed, from individuals and small groups in from the theatre to folk just in for a chat and occaisonally the odd post-work group (though not the kind that some other West End bars are full of!).
Good to go before 8pm as you're supposed to be a member after this time. I believe you can also book an area if there's a large group of you going along, though haven't tested this out yet.
Groups: What's a new platform anyway?

Mental but amazing place under the Phoenix Theatre on Charing X Road.
Members only after 8pm but once you're in you're in - doors are at 5. If you want to join it's £120 standard but there are cheaper rates if you are in the arts darling! Various jobs get you in free also, hooray!
Old fashioned with walls covered in theatre posters and crazy people wandering about but it's brilliant and is open till 3am. You'll never get bored, and prepare yourself for the songs of the musicals played on a ropey old pa.
Honestly it's the best.

This subterranean jewel is a favourite of those "in the know", smack-bang in the centre of Theatreland and Soho. Situated directly under the Phoenix Theatre on Charing Cross Road and accessed by an unobtrusive door down a side road, this is somewhere to drink until the wee hours. It's actually a members' club, but anyone is allowed in before 8pm and can stay as long as they like. If you arrive after then, you have to show your card! Delightfully unmodernised and run by the mildly eccentric Morris, it sells average-priced beer, wine and spirits and has an average menu. Its selling point, though, is its anonymity and late-night status. Don't go expecting plush surroundings - do go in anticipation of a long, enjoyable night out!
