A coffee gem

11 May 08, 21:15 5* Beyond expectations

This unassuming cafe on Berwick Street is a perfect antidote to the hubbub of the market and Starbucks.

It is small, friendly, serves very good coffee, yummy pastries and is a great place to chill out. I love that they serve tea in china teapots, complete with a proper cup and saucer, smothered in chintz. Long may they reign in Soho!

Cosy Soho Cafe

15 Apr 08, 12:48 5* Beyond expectations

This cafe is a real find. It's very miss-able as you negotiate the hustle of Berwick street market and marvel at the array of bizarre fabrics that spill out of the abundant haberdasheries.

But if you do find it don't miss it. It's small, cosy, extremely friendly and has (some of you may dispute) the nicest tasting coffees in Soho. The coffees are not overly strong but they taste delicious and the dedication of the staff there is something to admire.

They have the usual accompaniment of pastries, croissants etc... and I haven't ventured beyond there so can't comment on the rest of the food.

Check it out, you'll love it - just don't tell too many people as we don't want it to get too busy!

Best Coffee in London

09 Apr 08, 17:16 5* Beyond expectations

Flat White has been serving up great coffee from its location on Berwick Street for a while now. Started by an expat kiwi it is bringing great NZ coffee to the world, the sort of thing that continues to really put a thorn in the side of Starbucks trying to compete in NZ.

The premises are small to tiny, but the atmosphere is great and no matter what time of day you go the place is full and humming.

The food served on the side is also great, paninis with fillings more exciting than the standard London ham, cheese etc, great muffins etc

Finally, when you order tea, it comes in a porcelain cup and saucer like your grandmother used to serve you...
