Mix Sushi and Sashimi

As expected
The menu comprises a mix of sushi and sashimi, rice and noodle dishes, with a range of intriguing specials. We had the colourful platters of sushi we saw being carted to adjacent tables, a combination of glistening pieces of salmon, tuna, mackerel, salmon roe and prawn, as well as more unusual fish such as turbot, red snapper, cuttle fish and scallop.

Appearances can be deceiving

As expected
Ignore the slightly downtrodden, canteen-like feel of this Japanese cafe, it's definitely a case of appearances being deceiving. Last time I visited I, somewhat unimaginatively, had the chicken teriyaki meal - it was incredible value. In addition to the main event, there was also miso soup, tempura prawns, pack choi and a pork dish. Plus we shared a lovely salty bowl of edamame on the side. My friends both had sushi boxes, which were huge and varied, taking in everything from California roll, through vegetarian to beautiful pieces of salmon and tuna nigiri. Great value at a tenner a head, plus the tea is complementary.
