Great Jukebox!

16 May 08, 09:44 4* Above expectations

Off the beatern track in the depths of Soho The Endurance is a decent sized bar that serves a plentiful array of beers (etc). Has a kinda student union, indie feel to it; you could imagine going through to a scuzzy smoke filled backroom and watching a struggling band belting out a few demo's... The Endurance is also one of the few decent pubs in London that has a good, up to date jukebox!

Nice little gem in the heart of soho

13 Apr 08, 09:04 4* Above expectations

Have had many happy nights in this pub, its been a staple choice for meeting friends on occasions such as birthdays and get togethers or just going to a good pub after work. The main attraction I have to say is the jukebox, it used to be one of the best, however recently I did go and it had been updated too much. A lot of the old classcs were missing and this dissapointed a few of my friends. It gets really busy so beware on wednesdays, thursdays and the weekend. Especially in summer! There is a convenient place to smkoke outside and rund the back. girls beware! toilets facilities add up to exactly one toilet so be prepared to make friends in the queue which incidently is in the pub... Best table, near windows at the frornt or the round one at the back (where it looks like there should eb a dart board). Beware of sambucas and running around soho like a she-devil....

very aggressive rude pub

15 Feb 08, 14:53 1* Well below expectations

terrible pub, run by a bunch of Basil Fawlties, was moved twice from tables to make way for dinning people (even though the tables had not been reserved) I saw a guy who had been waiting for nearly 40 mins for a meal, complain and be verbally attacked by the bar staff. ( I personally believe this to be a racist motive, but thats my opinion) When I intervened was told to mind my own business. The landlord was arrogant and unsympathetic. I've been to this pub before and always found the bar staff either slow or plainly rude, but returned and put it down to overworked staff. Very busy, tends to put more effort and time on dinning customers and ignoring drinking ones, which does not make this a traditional pub as some reviewers have stated. With all the decent pubs in soho just avoid. But if your palette is basic and easily pleased and on't mind being treated like cattle then enjoy.

Better than some in the area

16 Aug 07, 14:45 4* Above expectations

With a decent selection of pints, and second only to the Toucan for a decent pint of Guinness in Soho, this pub offers decent food at lunchtime and a busy bar in the evening.

The regular haunt of many of many of the younger media types who work in the area (elsewhere described as "Nathan Barley types"), the Endurance can be very busy on weekday evenings, and almost completely empty at the weekend.

Located at one end of Berwick Street market, sandwiched between a Japanese restaurant and a wholefood fast food place, there is a reasonably sized beer garden out the back.

Test yours

06 May 07, 11:33 3* As expected

You'll find it listed under "gastropub" in most reviews, but hit The Endurance on a Thursday or Friday night and you'll find it so stuffed to the rafters with Soho media types that there's not enough room to swing an organic sausage. While the staff have adopted "Good things come to those who wait" as their mantra, the atmosphere remains genial and relaxed, if a little sweaty. Drinks are reasonable in quality and OK value, plus you'll often find as-cheerful-as-possible-vaguely-indie-but-verging-on-cheesy music to accompany your pint. Go to drink and be merry, go somewhere else for food.
