A Great Place To Waste Hours

27 May 09, 12:50 4 Above expectations

It's a one-stop-shop for all things round and musical. There's plenty of CDs, a good selection of vinyl and if they don't have what you want, there are enough staff who'll size up your musical credentials before choosing the tone of voice on their reply.

I've been hearing rumours recently that the shop's future is in doubt. Losing Sister Ray would be a massive blow - where else am I going to skulk away when my significant other is hammering the department stores on Oxford Street?

Use now folks! There isn't another like it in London, and if it goes, we won't see the likes of it again.

Go sister ray!

Sister ray has a range of music records and i can truthfully state its value for money. They also have a range of different formats and occassionally have reduced prices on records aswell. Sister ray is popular for having a rare vinyl collection. The staff are very helpful, if something your after is not there, they will put it on order.

One of the best

Excellent shop to find any records, recent and older, for a very reasonable price. The guys there know their stuff, and they can be very helpful. A must see if you love vinyls shopping.

It's indie rock'n'roll for me

08 May 07, 18:47 3 As expected

Until very recently this was Selectadisc, but was taken over last year by the slightly inferior Sister Ray. Fortunately, there has been no dip in quality. If it's an independent release you're looking for, you'll find here cheaper than anywhere else (internet included). The same also goes for old releases , some of the prices really are incredible. The store itself feels something like a cattle shed (low-ish ceilings, trough like bins for music), while the staff pitch themselves at the perfect level of snobbishness: aficionado status is appreciated, but not a pre-requisite, while teen pop-pickers need not apply.
