Beyond expectations
One of the friendliest pubs in manchester. The staff remember you and what you drink and aren't adverse to chatting with customers. The beer is cheap and excellent, especially the mild. The comedy night (Wednesday) is unmissable.

Quality Holts' in the city

As expected
The ape and apple is a great great Holts' pub right in the city centre.
It has the lounge upstairs and the proper bar downstairs, just like the Old Monkey.
The beer has always been good when I've been there and the pub is your average, honest pub grub. No doillies or fanciness, just real, honest pub grub.
The service could be improved but that adds to the atmosphere!
