Spectacular Views of Edinburgh

Beyond expectations
No visit to Edinburgh is complete without a visit to Edinburgh Castle, and once you have ventured up to the highest parts of Edinburgh Castle’s structure, you will be overwhelmed by the spectacular views of Edinburgh afforded from this Scottish "Castle of Castles".
Edinburgh Castle is every schoolboy's dream of what a castle should look like and the Edinburgh Castle website endeavours to give the Edinburgh visitor an in-depth view of Edinburgh Castle and it's history from early times right up until the present day.

This is quite simply the most beautiful fantastic remaining castle in the world from the 12th century chapel to the modern battlements this castle is simply the best. The tour is fantastic and for young and old the memory having been round will last forever ( almost as long as the castle)

It's a long steep walup to the castle but it's well worth it. I would recommend taking the tour as that way you get to hear everything. It is an interesting day out and well worth a visit. The history is amazing and so is the view (If youet a clear sunny day)

It's a hike up to the top of the city where the castle is but well worth it. I'd get a cab for starters. Once you're in, you can hire those walkie talkie radio things which give you information on the current bit of the castle that you are in. The view at the top is simply awesome. On a good day (and there are plenty of those in Edinburgh actually) you can see for miles. Right below you can see the Princess Street gardens with the railway running through to Waverly station. Look further into the distance and you can see the rest of the city out to the docks at Leith and the Firth of Forth with the majestic rail bridge bridging the mouth. This is not forgetting the Scottish Crown Jewels that are also housed here. So much to say! It is a must visit - particularly at one o'clock for the One O'Clock Gun. A huge cannon that is fired daily accross the city. Amazing.
