Back In the day

26 May 08, 18:34 1* Well below expectations

I used to work here and it was the place to go. It's one of two pubs on Shoreham Beach so it does a roaring trade al day, every day ! It had a great atmosphere, great menu and some of the nicest regulars you coud ever meet.

Now things have change, it's protentious and when you walk in now your made to feel like your not welcome.

It's actully a real shame as a pub like this should be the centre of the community but now it feels like there isn't any other choice so you go there.

Great Locals pub

02 May 08, 09:25 3* As expected

This used to be my local about a year ago. Somewhere i could go into on my own and be sure to see someone i know. Excellent! BUT.... I have been there since and it's just not the same if they dont know your face! There were a lot of new staff and new punters, i no longer knew anyone and it was obvious they didnt know me. I do think it's a shame when you walk in and everyone looks at you...'who are you?who do you know? and what are you doing here?' There are much better options in shoreham, all of them the other side of the footbridge.

No frills kind of place.

This pub is the only one on Shoreham beach so it is easy to see why they don't try to hard. They are gonna get the trade anyway so they just do the basics. They have a good selection of lagers on tap and a couple of real ales too so that is all good. The wine list is pretty basic and the normal mainline spirits sit on the back of the bar, there are no deluxe spirits on offer just your run of the mill Bells, Bacardi, Vodka and the like.

The interior is rather dated but it always seems clean enough and the food menu is typical chain pub stuff, pie and chips, fish and chips bangers and mash and so on.

This isn't the best pub in the world or in Shoreham for that matter but it is not to offensive and will save you a walk over the bridge.

I wouldn't take a girl there on the first date if i was hoping for a bit though.
