Love Carats

I belong to a running club and we have been known to start from and finish up at Carats. It kind of defeats the object (at least from my point of view) of running by having a big fried breakfast afterwards - but what the hell - live dangerously! It's really good value for money and a friendly place full of people in the know, cos lets face it you're not going to find carats by accident.

From the outside you'd never guess this little cafe could be SO good inside...
The breakfasts are cheap but huge... perfect for a Sunday morning hangover cure. The rest of the menu is tasty too... I particularly like the lasagne, which comes with chips and salad.
Worth driving to. You do have to pay for parking during the summer months, but the owner's recently started giving customers 25p towards it, so make sure you ask when ordering!

...and the like.
Carats is a bit of a favourite of ours for an after work fry-up. We work dead early you see so come 10am we are ravenous. It's too far to walk to from our place but if we can sort out who's driving it's well worth the effort.
It looks a bit like a public toliet block from the outside but don't be fooled...the food is top notch. I've only ever had breakfast there but Carats is open all day for lunch and is fully licenced too. They cater well for freaky veggies like me...plenty of non-meaty choices and you really get a great big plateful. It's cheap too...and the staff are all very happy sorts. My tummy's rumbling at the mere thought...

Carats cafe bar can be found on the basin road that runs from Hove lagoon down to the harbour arm directly behind Shoreham power station. The cafe is set right on the beach next to a little row of beach huts with a large outdoor patio area and plenty of space inside for when the sun is not shining, even in the shadow of a power station it is a lovely spot. The food is the nuts aswell you can have a proper big breakfast fo £5.50 aswell as loads of daily specials like fish and chips, jackets, lasagne and so on. All good portions and well cooked food it is to. If you fancy they even have a well stocked bar so you can have a beer. So good food cold beer all followed by a walk down the harbour arm in the sun. Can't be bad can it.
