Fantastic Festival 22nd- 31st August 2008

23 Jun 08, 17:01 5* Beyond expectations

I love Arundel Castle it is simply a beautiful location and this year promises to be a very interesting and entertaining festival

The line up is The Levellers, originally from nearby Brighton and celebrating 20 years in the business this year.

Also on the bill for the Friday is Seth Lakeman, up and coming in the folk roots scene and winner of Folk Singer of the year. ,

3 Daft Monkeys, whose dynamic take on world music is enhanced by rousing vocals and accomplished fiddling, 12-string guitar, dancing bass and foot drum.

Saturday 23 August sees a very special concert indeed. ‘The Music of Queen – A Rock & Symphonic Spectacula.

Also Midsummer Nights Dream is going to be performed.

There is also free parking.

Wonderful for so many reasons

29 May 08, 19:26 5* Beyond expectations

This castle is wonderous for many reasons, however the most important I think is that it's still inhabited and used as a castle by the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk.

The gardens are perfectly manicured, and stepping inside the grounds is like having every stress and strain removed from your body as you walk into this idyllic haven of beauty and history.

There is great wheelchair access too so users can actually get to experience inside the castle on different floors thanks to the lifts inside.

Fantastic Castle

27 May 08, 22:41 5* Beyond expectations

Arundel Castle is a proper castle, you catch site of it as you drive into Arundel from any direction and it really is breathtaking. The gardens are fantastic for a mini-picnic on a summers day and the castle tour is well worth the money. If you like big swords, dungeons and keeps, this is the place for you.

Don't go on a Monday

13 May 08, 11:52 2* Below expectations

Don't get me wrong, I think the castle is absolutely beautiful, which is why I made the effort to drive and go and look around....the only problem was that it was a Monday and for some reason unbeknown to me, it was closed.

On the plus side, the car park opposite is very cheap, £1-50 for up to 3 hours (the minimum you can have) but that isn't really relevant when we couldn't even get in. I'm sure I will try again one day that isn't a Monday and if so I will probably give it a higher rating, until then, just slightly bitter I'm afraid
