The pushy DJ can ruin a night

Well below expectations
I've been here on three occassions... ..once during the week and twice on a weekend. At the weekend they employ this man who masquerades as a DJ and all round entertainer. He wears ghastly shirts and wanders around harrassing people with a microphone. They have a competition where you have to hit a red pin - sounds like fun no!? No. The DJ/entertainer/shirt man is very very strict about the 'rules' and it almost seems to cause him pain when he actually gives something away.
Other than DJ Shirt, the staff aren't really with it. the food is horrible and the bar isn't really up to much.
On a positive note, the pool hall is good fun and always well looked after. It's quite expensive though.

Could do better

Below expectations
I've been here quite a few times and most times something goes wrong technically. However, the staff are apologetic and helpful, the beers keeps flowing and the food is fairly good. AND it is much better than the bowling at Crawley which is total chaos (I shall be reviewing that next)

Technical hitches aplenty!

I have been to the Bowlplex at Brighton Marina maybe 3 or 4 times. I have to admit this review is based purely on the poor experience I had the last time I visited only a couple of months ago.
There was a large group of us there really up for having a laugh and getting involved in some healthy competition between mates. Despite booking lanes in advance it took them a while to find us lanes next to each other. It didn't take long for things to start breaking...I think 3 of our 4 lanes broke down in total. It was all a bit of a shame really. We did get moved eventually but some of us didn't even get time to finish our game.
We did still have a right laugh though...and when things go right...you can't beat a good bit of ten-pin.

Hard to get wrong but they do

Well below expectations
I came here for my birthday recently and wanted it to be a great night, we'd arranged it in advance...2 games of bowling, food and drinks with a waiter on hand to serve us.
We got there and had to move lanes numerous times because at first they didn't have them altogether like we'd asked for, then when we did eventually get them, the lanes kept breaking. it took some people 2 hours to play one game of bowling.
The food is very basic, we expected that but it took ages for us to order the food, it then took even longer to get it. There were 20 of us and they brought the food out 4 at a time as if they only had 4 microwaves to cook it in. The staff were completely inept and didn't seem to know what was going on. We eventually spoke to a manager who only managed to appease us with some free drinks.
You'll be pleased to know I still had a good birthday
