Chav central

14 May 08, 20:20 3* As expected

Odeon is your bog standard cinema, its in a great location at the bottom of West st in Brighton, but the building itself is very ugly. The prices seem to be creeping up, and they only offer student discount on certain days wheras cineworld offers it everyday! And its always full of chavs throwing things at your head and laughing and snogging to loudly on the back row. On a good note they alway have the newest blockbusters out and sometimes some arty films, and they do fanta freezies yum!

Could do better

09 May 08, 13:53 2* Below expectations

The Odeon in Brighton town centre is simply OK, and could do with a facelift as its in a prime location. If you consider the money you spend on cinema tickets these days (£6.70+), times that by at least 2 people, then add on drinks and sweets the facilities should be much better. Parking isn't easy as the local NCP's charge a fortune - although I believe you can reclaim free parking for 3 hours if you get the right stamp and park on the ground floor!!

I tend to go on a Wednesday evening and claim Orange 2 for 1 but have walked away on several occasions as the queue has been out of the door with scores of students in front of me.

Get yourself down the Marina if you have a car, its so much easier

Get down to the Marina

09 May 08, 11:58 1* Well below expectations

I'm not entirely sure why you would choose to come here over the cinema in Brighton Marina. At this one, parking is awkward and expensive, the cinema is so old and run down it is embarassing, the seats are uncomfortable and there is more legroom on a 1p Ryanair flight to Salzburg, it's not an enjoyable experience.

Whereas the marina has free parking, it's having a refurb now (May 08) and there's loads of room, give the Odeon a miss or risk not enjoying that film you were excited about.

In need of a refurb!!!!!

02 May 08, 10:19 2* Below expectations

I think it is such a shame that this cinema didn't undergo a refurbishment when they built oceana. The building has potential, with 4-5 large screens, however the decor needs some attention and it is generally a bit tatty round the edges! The snacks as well are very expensive, £2.50 for a bottle of water, no thanks!!!

Needs a seeing to

30 Apr 08, 07:05 2* Below expectations

This is one of two cinemas in the Brighton area...the Odeon is the great grandad of the two and really could do with an update. Yes they show everything they should by way of new releases and there are several screens but the outside of the building is positively ugly and the inside could do with a deep clean.

You do tend to get stuck to the floors and you'll find old popcorn and the like stuck to your seat. Nice. Oh and if the auditorium is full...it gets uncomfortably warm in there.

Sticky floor

29 Apr 08, 16:10 2* Below expectations

EVERY time i have been to the odeon i've sat with my feet in someone elses old sticky coke! Really could do with a makeover and if your driving it's a bit expensive in the car park. Better off going to cineworld at Brighton Marina where the parking is free, everything is a tad cleaner and the popcorn is crispy.

Standard, could do with a facelift

23 Apr 08, 13:23 3* As expected

This cinema is centrally located and pretty accessible. It has approximately 10 screens and shows all the newly-released films. The cinema could do with a bit of a facelift and perhaps the staff could be abit more friendly! The popcorn is usually abit tasteless! (sorry) Also, be careful that you arent put in screen 9 as it is the size of a shoebox and the screen is practically portable.

Old and bit dirty

23 Apr 08, 13:16 2* Below expectations

Although this cinema shows great films and is in a good location, the building itself is old and needs a revamp. The floors are always sticky with fizzy drinks and the loos are dirty. The food and drink is expensive too - the popcorn isn't even that nice!
