5 reviews for Alfresco

A great spot

27 May 08, 16:35 3* As expected

Always busy, this is a great stop off point if you're wandering into Brighton via the seafront. There are plenty of tables, all with a view facing the sea. I've never eaten lunch here, but have been to a few parties. It's a great venue for a private function, you can hire a whole floor with plenty of space for a DJ etc. The food and drink is all lovely too, despite the drinks being a little on the costly side.

Best Spot on the beach

26 May 08, 18:22 3* As expected

If you want a great view whilst you eat your italian, book Alfresco. Sit inside or outsdide and this glass box set high up on the beach has cinematic views to die for ( on a nice day) The food is good - yummy calamaries ... but the service not friendly. I used to go every week for my tea - and after 2 years when nobody acknowledged my consistent support i decided to spend my money elsewhere.

You can take your drink onto the pebbles

14 May 08, 12:02 3* As expected

...something most of the seafront bars in Brighton and Hove don't allow...

This is a lovely little place for sitting, drinking and people watching... it's not usually as busy as some of the other places further up towards the Palace Pier either... I've been able to get a seat there most times I've been in.

Good for parties as well - you can hire out part of it.

Four stars for the club sandwich

13 May 08, 17:54 4* Above expectations

Alfresco gets four stars for it's club sandwich alone. It's the only thing I have ever eaten here and it's wonderful. Unusually, it contains crayfish and it is delicious. I've also been here for a few times for a glass of Pimms, sat outside in the sunshine practically on the beach - wonderful.

See the sea

13 May 08, 12:55 3* As expected

Alfresco is the glass restaurant jutting out of the seafront at West Pier. It really is a great spot for a drink in the sunshine on their balcony. The restaurant is spread over two floors...the 'ground' floor is at pebble level so gets very busy on a sunny day.

You can hire the downstairs for parties/wedding receptions etc. The bar is right in the middle and there's plenty of space for a DJ as well as seating. The only downfall here is that the food really isn't all that. Don't get me wrong...it's not hideous it's just a bit bland and uninspiring. I've eaten in better Italian restaurants for sure. Oh and it's expensive too. Fortunately its location kind of makes up for it...but maybe just go for a drink!
