Above expectations
This pub is a very nice traditional old style country pub. The staff are very friendly and the food is of a good quality.
They serve good tradional meals as I think a good old fashioned pub should.
The pub is always well presented and clean and they have a lovely garden area where you can sit in the summer. Therefore, I can always take my little boy for some lunch. Although it is a pub it also has a family element.
The toilets are very modernised and have a very funky feel going on and although the pub has an old country feel, it is modern enough that it does not seem outdated. It also has a fair sized carpark which is always good for the non-alcoholics.
I would recommned this to friends and family as somewhere to go for a nice hearty meal.

As expected
I really like the Black Lion...it's just the right size and has a couple of sofas dotted about if you're lucky enough to nab one. I wouldn't particularly call it cosy or intimate but then I guess that depends what time of the day you go in.
It's good for a night out with a few mates or to start your night off if you plan on going dancin' later. I would have given the Black Lion 4 stars but was a little bit disappointed with the food last time I went. The staff are dead friendly but got our order wrong and when our lunch arrived it looked a bit like it had been chucked together...not a lot of love there!
Definitely good for drinking though...worth a visit.
