Amazing fish Gnocchi

21 Apr 08, 18:13 5* Beyond expectations

One of the most well known and oldest restaurants in the Brighton Laines. I have been here once and keep meaning to go back cos it's so good. I had a fish gnocchi starter, which was delicious if it wasn't so filling I would have eaten it three times over. It's not cheap and the decor is a little mad, but I really recommend it.

Oldest and bestest

21 Apr 08, 16:58 4* Above expectations

This restaurant is "apparently" the oldest in Brighton - going back to 1945. It is tucked away in the Lanes and is a quaint quirky quality dining experience . If you like your fish there is no place finer than English's of Brighton. Proper Silver service - beautiful fish platters and a good wine list. Remember to book as you generally can't just pop in and be prepared to pay a minimum of £25 per head for the simplest dish. Worth every penny - and if it's all right for the Labour party when they come to town its all right for me.

Excellent Brigton Seafood Restaurant

19 Apr 08, 20:57 5* Beyond expectations

English's can be found at the centre of the North Laines area of Brighton just a couple of streets away from the seafront.

It has a well deserved reputation for serving up some of (if not the) best seafood in Brighton and if you're going there you're going to need a pretty fat wallet as quality comes with a pretty hefty price tag.

So, unless you're super minted, you're best off saving up for a special occasion and then going proper mental when you get there by tucking into the scallops to start followed by the biggest whole grilled lobster you can afford and washing it all down with a bottle of Champers or Chablis. Add on the excellent creme brulee for desert and a coffee and you can easily find yourself breaking the £100 / head barrier.

Worth every penny!
