A true taste of Spain

Having lived in Spain I am probably over critical of Spanish food over here but I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The staff are friendly, the food is authentic and they are very accomodating for large groups of people (they even put up with me ordering in my rather rusty Spanish) . I celebrated my birthday there this year and we had a fantastic evening but not at ridiculous prices. I have rather a penchant for 'Pimientos de Padron' and try to go back as often as possible for my fix of Spain!

Casa Don Carlos is a small but friendly tapas bar in the lanes in Brighton. You will never be disappionted with the food or the service. If you do not know what to have they will help you make good choices and tell you what goes well with what. Everything tastes delicious and every time you go you have a great time. It is a popular restaurant so dont forget to book to avoid disappiontment.

This has to be the best place I have ever had Tapas ... it even beats the Tapas in Barcelona! CDC is the sweetest little restaurant in The Lanes which means you have to book or be prepared for disappointment. The dishes are so tasty that you always order too much ... which then means it s an expensive meal / night out. Atmosphere is always great but don't go if you want to have a private conversation ..... the tables are very close together

This is one of my top 5 favourite restaurants in Brighton... and is tucked away in the Lanes.
There's plenty of choice of food and wine, served by Spanish waiters, who are real characters.
It's fairly small inside, so you may have to wait for a table, but it's so worth the wait. I really like sitting outside, where there a few tables. You will find passers by walking very near you, but somehow it just adds to that Brighton charm.
This one is a must.

This place is absolutley wicked. it is tucked away down the lanes but well worth it as it has a real spanish feel to it. Not a theme place or anything, but actuallu quaint and really authentic.

Wow... this really is my favourite restaurant in Brighton & Hove... it's a really authentic little spanish tapas place nestled in the north laines. Me and my other half went there for Valentines day and had a really fantastic night... the food was absolutely delicious, i particularly recommend the lamb, which just falls of the bone and the gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns) are to die for!!! One little word of warning if your going out after to not eat too much of the alioli which is the strongest I have tasted!!! Also you must pre-book as it is always rammed... this however makes for a great atmostphere when you do get a table... 10 out of 10 for Casa Don Carlos!!

The trouble with tapas is everything looks and sounds so good you end up ordering masses and then can't eat it all. The food here is really tasty, I'd certainly recommend it. Barcelona it isn't, but it's the next best thing.

I can only second the views of Tara D. on this one (although I'm not sure what all this not eating carbs after 5 nonsense is!?). Anyway, all I can add is that this is a very versatile restaurant, suitable for anything from a romantic date to a family meal and even a fairly rowdy birthday party. You'll never go back to any of those nearby chain tapas restaurants again (i.e. La Tasca). Mui bien indeed!

Hidden in the Brighton Laines this restaurant's an absolute must if you really love tapas. Booking's essential at the weekend, and even on a weekday evening you may have to wait for a table. But persevere, this is the best tapas I've ever tasted - including that in Spain (where I've lived). My fiancé always goes for the tasty and meaty paella, and I never miss their Pimiento de Padron (although it's a seasonal special). Their house Rioja is fantastically priced and uncompromising in taste. 5 tapas dishes, four drinks and a side comes in under £40. The friendly and professional waiters - who're all Spanish - never fail to remember my favourite dishes and make every visit an absolute pleasure. Oooh, and if you don't want to eat carbs after 5pm then what better menu choice could you ever want than at Casa don Carlos? An absolute must, mui bien!
