A bit dated

15 May 08, 11:15 3* As expected

I agree with some of the other reviewers, the Brighton centre is a bit dated... and could do with more than a lick of paint...

BUT... I've been to see half a dozen gigs here in the last six months... and the venue is great inside. There seems to be a good view from wherever you are in the auditorium... from the standing area, to the stalls to the balcony.

It does get busy, but I always find I can get a drink at the bar before and during performances.

Needs modernising

09 May 08, 12:02 3* As expected

You can't argue with the quality of gigs that the Brighton Centre has. In December 2007 there was a run of gigs including The Hoosiers, Kanye West, Hard Fi, Rihanna....the list goes on, some big artists come here which is great considering it's only 45 minutes from the huge London venues.

However, it's a bit like going to a school hall for a concert sometimes, it needs doing up A LOT otherwise there is a risk of the big acts deciding to leave Brighton off their gig list

Variety is the spice of life

30 Apr 08, 12:40 3* As expected

I think the Brighton Centre provides a huge of variety of acts for all ages and tastes. From Dancing on Ice the X factor tour and Amy Winehouse...........not a bad spread.

Everyone agrees it needs a facelift but you get a good view wherever you sit and with the lights low, an enthusiastic audience you get a great atmosphere

Entertainment in Brighton

25 Apr 08, 17:28 3* As expected

In the heart of Brighton, it hosts acts such as Girls Aloud, Pink, Rhiannan and many more. The venue itself is rather dated and not great from the outside, but once inside the concerts certainly put on a good show.

Good shows

23 Apr 08, 13:57 3* As expected

it seems to be getting better each years with acts. I mean in the last 6 months they have had so many, so I would keep your eye out what is up and coming. But I really think it just needs a good clean but I dont really go there for that. So to see great acts, go here.

Great Gigs

23 Apr 08, 13:16 4* Above expectations

The Brighton Centre is a great venue, it was built in the 70's and it shows, but that adds to it's character. Whenever I've been there, it's always been a great atmsophere, and it's a huge part of the Brighton scene. Last year I went to see some amazing gigs there, including The Killers, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Hard Fi, to name but a few.

Its a Conference venue!

21 Apr 08, 17:16 3* As expected

The Brighton Centre - that blot on the landscape of Brightons Regency seafront. Its 70's architecture made it perfect for a conference venue as it is spacious - dense - has no soul and packs 5,000 people in a night no problem, but from the outside it makes you want to cry. However - when the lights go down and the curtain goes up it doesn't matter if you are seeing Shirley Bassey or Velvet Revolver - the sound and vision is always good and you can just about get a warm drink at the bar at half time .

Brighton Centre

WOW!!! South easts best entertainment venue.

I have been to the Brighton Centre to watch a number of different bands ranging from Status quo all the way up to the x-factor tour, and not once have i been disapointed. It has great viewing from all area's and all the staff are willing to help, what ever the problem. The venue is also airconditioned so i have never sat in my seat wishing i wasn't there. The security is fantastic and if you require one there is always a firstaider on hand.

Brighton Centre

16 Apr 08, 21:45 3* As expected

It is in desperate need of modernising but it's all we've got so let's embrace it for now. The Brighton Centre is the biggest concert venue in the city and does play host to some of the biggest names in the business.

In the last year I've seen Groove Armada, Rihanna and the X Factor tour there. Sound reproduction is good and even right at the back, you're still not that far from the stage.

The bar needs sorting out though. The beer on draught is almost always pretty much undrinkable and the service is bad.

This is the biggest concert/gig/exhibition venue in Brighton. It's large, easy to get to and you get a good view pretty much everywhere. But it's no O2 arena. It's in need of a facelift. The bar area, the seating, the UGLY front of the building right on the seafront - yuck. Having said that... when the lights go down and your favourite artist is just a few feet away singing live it's brilliant!

Brighton's biggest venue...

16 Apr 08, 09:22 4* Above expectations

...for music, exhibitions, conferences and the like.

Not the prettiest building on the seafront by any stretch but really does the job. I've seen some fantastic bands there from Kings of Leon to Prodigy to Hard-Fi. The acoustics are good and you get a decent view pretty much wherever you are in the arena.

The Brighton Bears used to play their home games at the Centre and it proved to be a great sports venue too. Shame the team aren't around anymore...

Every January Holiday on Ice comes to town...not my cup of tea at all but it means for a couple of weeks beforehand they open the ice rink up to the public. I went twice over Christmas just gone...loads of fun!

Unfortunately there are contstant threats to knock the building down but despite that the staff at the Brighton Centre continue to do a sterling job. I for one would be very sad to see it disappear from the seafront...although a facelift wouldn't go a miss.

The Brighton Centre

11 Nov 07, 17:35 4* Above expectations

The Brighton Centre is the largest multi-purpose venue in the whole of Brighton and its surrounding area. With scores of events taking place there all the time, from gigs to exhibitions and conferences (The Labour Party have their annual conference there each year), it is gigantic and obviously very spacious indeed. Although its exterior has been complained about due to its domineering place on the sea front's landscape (its jagged edges do it no favours) the inside can't be complained about at all.
